| Before Christmas Charlee Laine spent 3 weeks doing 45 minute spots in hotels in Las Vegas - and on Friday he appeared in Michael Barrymore television quiz show, 'My Kind Of Music'. Mr. Laine, aged 50, of Shaftesbury, wanted to be a singer from the age of 14 when he heard Frankie Laine sing 'High Noon'. A member of the Frankie Laine International Appreciation Society, Charlee first met his mentor six years ago and since then has visited him at his home and sought his professional advice. " I send him my recordings and he writes back with constructive criticism," says Charlee who produces his own CD's at his Beaufoy Close home. As well as ballads he has a wide repertoire of songs from musicals and in the Neil Diamond, Tony Bennett, Paul Anka, Frank Sinatra traditions. "I know between 300 & 400 songs, which allows me to put on a 3-4 hour show without repetition" |

In 1996 & 1997 he did charity gigs at the London Palladium
to packed houses. He has also appeared at clubs and hotels from Bournemouth

CHARLEE ENTERTAINS: International vocalist and entertainer Charlee Laine of Shaftesbury brought a touch of nostalgia to the residents of Abbey view, Sherborne last week, when he gave an evening performance free of charge, Charlee sang special requests and well known numbers for residents and there was a surprise gift of one of his tapes to those celebrating December birthdays. Charlee. seen here, has appeared at the London Paladium as well as in Las Vegas and in recent weeks at a charity concert at the Royal Hotel Bath for the Clive Wilcox Memorial Fund.
